“Meditation is not a way of making your mind quiet.
It is a way of entering into the quiet that is already there–
buried under the 50,000 thoughts the average person thinks every day.”
–Deepak Chopra

Becoming Still Retreat

Experience the Ease, Clarity and Connectedness
of a Month-long Meditation Retreat in Just One Weekend

Register Now for Houston, October 11 -12, 2014

Register Now for Atlanta, November 8 – 9, 2014

You are invited to experience the Technology of Stillness© — an amazingly easy way of increasing your energy and  providing a deep ease in your body and mind.  Over thirty years of study and research with professionals in health, psychology, and physical therapy, as well as the experiences of hundreds of participants, have proven this system’s effectiveness.

The processes of the Technology of Stillness were developed and refined by Robert Petteway and Cynthia Zaal, creators of Myopractic® Deep Muscle Therapy and Posture Balancing.  Through their study and practice of bodywork and their experiences in meditation, this technology was developed and perfected.

The processes of the Technology of Stillness work with your body, shifting the very vibration and tone in your biology.  It is hands-on, high- and low-tech bodywork that produces similar qualities to deep meditation used over long periods.  You will receive – and learn to give – this bodywork.

Participants find these techniques to be powerful, gentle, and immediate — and it feels good!  Deep muscular, skeletal, and nervous system tension (much of which you may not even be aware) can begin to release from your body, creating an experience of spaciousness and relaxation within you.  Some level of this released tension simply never returns.  And the freedom and spaciousness available during the weekend will continue to deepen and unfold after the retreat.

The primary tool  which allows the release of core-level stress is Vibration Release (aka “buffing”), combining deep breathing techniques with mechanical vibration applied to your body. Stress diminishes naturally as the body relaxes and your energy increases, allowing for a profound release of anxieties, defensive patterns, stored traumas, and chronic muscular tension.

A New Perspective . . . A Gentler Pace . . . The Same Effective Techniques

Nila Velchoff of The Source Collaborative will be co-leading the Houston retreat.  In addition to being a long-time student of the Technology of Stillness, Nila is grounded in Ontology, or the Language of Being … a way to deepen and integrate stillness into your everyday life with more effectiveness and aliveness.  In this retreat we will focus on using the techniques of the Technology of Stillness.  And the conversation will be naturally influenced, expanded, and integrated by Nila’s embodiment of the Language of Being.  Learn more about Nila and The Source Collaborative here.

Health:

“For almost 20 years I have had to take over-the-counter sleep aids to be able to get a good night’s rest … Less than a week after participating in the (Becoming Still retreat) I was suddenly able to sleep deeply through the whole night without the use of medication.”
     … Sandy McAvin, Houston, Texas

Work:

“As a project manager in charge of multi-million dollar construction projects I discovered that the results from the (Stillness work was) dramatic, broad, and still continues to surface even a year or so later.  The clarity and congruence of my communications with others has improved tenfold.  I am able to hone in on the exact problem within a complex situation and determine the exact solution with an ease that I never knew existed.  I find that I have become a resource for others as well.  People now depend on me and my ability to the point that it actually shocks me at times.  I highly recommend this course.”

Relationships:

“What shows up for me since the (Stillness) work:
1) Space to hold the complexity of paradox.
2) Space to let others be where they are.
3) Space in lieu of reactivity.
4) Healed and reconciled torn relationships.
5) Fear: Early in the work it seemed easier to step through fear; later I noticed fear was mostly gone.
6) Noticing more about people, without judgment or evaluation.
7) Transforming gratitude from a concept into a daily experience.
8) Waking up in the middle of my unconscious reactive patterns.”
— Steve Scholl, Houston, Texas

Well-Being:

“As a professional in the field of cognitive therapy, I have seen the Stillness weekends provide as much resolution and release as it oftentimes takes a year of weekly therapy to achieve”
— Joan Harwood, Houston, Texas
